Eligibility Criteria
- Education Qualification:
- Diploma or Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.
- Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026):
- Up to 32 years for CPWD; 30 years for other departments (Age relaxation as per Govt. rules for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-servicemen).

Selection Procedure
- Paper 1 (CBT): Objective: General Awareness, Reasoning & Discipline Knowledge; Negative marking of 0.25 mark/wrong answer.
- Paper 2 (CBT): Technical test in candidate’s chosen discipline; Negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer.
- Document Verification: Only shortlisted candidates after both CBTs to attend with all original documents.
- Medical Examination: According to the department requirements/standards.

Salary & Pay Scale: All Junior Engineer posts are Group B (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial and paid under Level 6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) of the 7th Pay Commission matrix. In addition, employees get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per government rules. |
FAQs – SSC JE 2025
- Q. Can I apply if I am appearing in the final year of Diploma/B.E./B.Tech?
- Only those with final results declared before cutoff can apply. Final year candidates not having results by closing date are not eligible.
- Q. Is there any Interview?
- No interview. Final merit is based on the normalized score of both Computer Based Tests (Papers 1 & 2) and document verification.
- Q. Is experience mandatory for SSC JE?
- Experience not mandatory for SSC JE posts except certain specific posts/departments (See official notification).
- Q. Is negative marking present in both papers?
